Jennifer Mae Dunn
October 6, 1964 – October 26, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Jennifer Mae Dunn (59) announce her passing on October 26, 2023
Jennifer will be dearly missed by her mother Anne Sinclair, uncle Bill Sinclair (Sharon), sister Marie Dekleer (Harry), brother Fenton Dunn, niece Stephanie Clinch (Gerry), nephews Terence Clinch (Crystal), John Clinch, grand-nieces Hope, Kiara, Arianna, grand-nephew Austin, cousins Elinore Paulic, Lawrence Isfeld, Clarence Isfeld and Brenda Isfeld; her very close childhood friend Haven Stumpf and many other cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her common-in-law husband Dan Power of Newfoundland (2019), her father Raymond Dunn (2015) and aunt Diana Dunn (2022).
Jennifer’s heritage comes from the Fisher River Cree Nation and while she grew up in Winnipeg and Gimli Manitoba areas, she spent her adult years in Calgary and later in 2008 moved to Newfoundland with her partner Dan and her beloved dog Bugsy (died 2020). She loved the island and was quickly loved by many friends and family she met through Dan or her work. She was an exceptional server at the Jackladder in Gros Morne and the Big Stop in Deer Lake. She studied hard to obtain a Diploma of Health and Human Sciences in Corner Brook and loved her job as a Homecare Worker; especially the seniors that reminded her of her mother.
Most of all she leaves to mourn Douglas Breen and family, especially his grandchildren that called her Nanny: Brooklyn (13), Jennessa (10) and Katie (3). Jenn introduced them all to “a cup of tea” and greatly loved their visits.
Jenny knew Christ Jesus the Saviour and believed He died on the cross to pay the penalty for her sins. She cried out to Jesus for help many times and is now safe in His loving arms. Praise His Holy Name! (Rom 5:8, Psalms 18:6, Matt 11:28).
Cremation was entrusted to Carnell’s Funeral Home in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
A visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake, Newfoundland on Sunday, November 5, 2023 from the hours of 7 – 9 pm.
Memorial services to be announced later in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Fisher River Cree Nation, Manitoba with details on social media or with family members.
