Obituary of Donald Carl Patey

Donald C. Patey

Donald Carl Patey passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the age of 82 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.

Born in St. Anthony, he later moved to Corner Brook for work where he made many close friendships and met his future wife, Pearl. They married in St. Anthony in 1964 and raised three daughters in Corner Brook.

Their lives were filled with joy, laugher, travels, camping, curling, a good game of cards, and making many friends. He loved his morning coffee and meeting up with friends at McDonalds. Above all, he will be remembered for his generosity, work ethic, sharp mind, and loving nature. He spent most of his career working for the CBC in their engineering department. He loved to keep busy and the old house in Bonne Bay provided many projects to keep it in great shape! A typical evening was spent reading a good book and watching his favourite shows with a cup of tea. He loved photography and history, was highly intelligent, and provided a home environment that valued education and hard work. He was well loved by all, and his light will be missed.

Don is survived by his daughters Karen Webster (Chris, Sam - grandson; Calgary, AB), Donna Patey (Andy; Moncton, NB), and Susan Patey LeDrew (Donald; Houston, TX). Other family members include nieces and nephews Janet Young, Todd McLeod, and Jackie Patey Coates (Terry), as well as other family and friends in Newfoundland and across Canada. He is predeceased by his wife, Pearl (née Caines), parents, Rachael (née Powell) and George, and brother Baxter.
