Obituary of Victor Penney
Please share a memory of Victor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Victor Penney announce his peaceful passing on November 26, 2023, at the age of 79.
Victor was born on September 2, 1944, in Carbonear, NL to Edna & John Penney (deceased). He had 6 brothers Clarence (deceased), Howard (deceased), John (Betty), Jim (Karla), Scott (Trudy), Garry (Fern) and 2 sisters Ruth (Frank Carter) and Joy Mutrey.
He moved to Happy Valley Goose Bay where he met and married the love of his life, Joan. They spent 57 beautiful and loving years together. They went on to have 6 beautiful children. Anyone who had the good fortune to know Victor will remember him for his generous and kind heart. He was very accepting of everyone he met and it was important to him that he raise his children this way. Victor took a lot of pride in his children, and they were all by his side right to the end.
Victor spent most of his years in Churchill Falls working with CFLco as a carpenter and retired after a rewarding career. Victor and Joan moved back to Happy Valley Goose Bay where they were very excited to live out their retirement.
For the last few months Victor lived in the Long Term Care Home in Goose Bay, where he was embraced by all the caring staff. We appreciate their every effort to make him feel at home in his new surroundings. Victor enjoyed participating in all the activities and events and quickly made friends with his fellow residents. The staff at the LTC home are all angels on earth. We will be forever grateful to them for the exceptional care and attention he received, especially during his last few days.
Leaving to mourn with the most beautiful everlasting memories and broken hearts are his wife, Joan , his children Randy (Melitia), Patrick (Glenis), Gertrude (Derrick), Sheila (Troy), Calvin (Tina) and Victoria (Scott), his precious grandchildren, Karl, Kyla, Joanna, Desiree, Julia, Shannon, Autumn, Coady, Elijah, Evan, Logan and Owen and 4 great-grandchildren, Kallie, Karter, Lexi and Harper. Victor’s family was his greatest joy and his most precious accomplishment, and you can tell that in how he spoke so lovingly about each of them.
The family would really appreciate donations to Helping Hands at the Long Term Care Home where he spent his last months. Helping Hands is a volunteer group who give of their time to support the residents.
There will be a viewing for friends and family at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 2 pm – 4 pm and 7 pm – 9 pm. Cremation to follow and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
