Gordon Hamlyn

August 18, 1957 – January 14, 2024

Corner Brook, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon Hamlyn announce his sudden passing at the place he loved the most, at his boat (Dreams) at the Bay of Islands Yacht club on Sunday, January 14^th, 2024 at the age of 66 years.

Gord was a family man first, who loved and was loved very dearly. He also loved his work family, the Corner Brook Fire Department where he served for 45 years. He was passionate about the Toy Drive his entire career, making Christmas special for those in need.

 He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. A true family man, a true friend to whomever had the privilege to meet him. He will be missed dearly.

He leaves with fond and loving memories his wife Leona; sons Robert (Noelle) and Daniel (Sharla); grandchildren, Ben, Samantha and Sarah; brothers and sisters-in-law: Roger Biles (Wanda), Dennis Biles (June), Linda Biles (Bob), Melvin Patey (Sylvia), as well as numerous relatives and friends.  He is predeceased by his brother Robert, parents Ralph and Mildred Hamlyn, Mother and Father-in law Thomas and Eliza Biles and sister-in-law Betty Biles.

Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Thursday, January 18^th from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m.  Cremation will follow on Friday. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, January 20^th, 2024 at 11 AM from Westside Tabernacle, 37 Elizabeth street with Pastor Jeremy Simms and Pastor Terry Grimes officiating.
