Obituary of Guy Lester Dawe
Lester “Guy” Dawe passed peacefully with family by his side April 13, 2024.
Guy was born in 1951 in St. Anthony NL where he spent his time growing up playing hockey, stopping pucks for the St. Anthony Polars - along with other less safe past-times like jumping ice pans in the harbour.
Guy completed drafting in trade school and finished the program in St. John’s where he met his wife Lillian (née Hackett) and were married in 1984. They lived in St. John’s until moving to Pasadena in 1991.
Guy was a truly gifted artist - and his talents were on display in many forms. He could build anything, from wooden boats used to shuttle the family to Woods Island in the summer, to the cabin at Kelly’s Point, along with many renovation projects for family and friends over the years. These projects and trips eventually involved a drink and Guy inevitably would be coaxed into taking out a guitar. Guy brought the party wherever he went. He could play and sing anything, but favourites included Simani and Willie Nelson. When the party really got going - and if you were really lucky - you may even have heard Wooly Bully!
Predeceased by his parents Clifford and Janet Dawe, grandparents Art and Blanche Dawe, special uncle Herb Dawe, parents-in-law Jack and Margaret Hackett, brother Walter Dawe, and sister-in-law Janis Dawe.
Leaving to mourn are his wife Lillian, sons Matthew (Jenn), Chris (Jessica), granddaughter Avery (Matthew and Jenn), his siblings Dora Dormer, Kevin Dawe, Glenn Dawe, Freda Chaulk (Clifford), Roselyn Dawe, Ronald Dawe, Eric Dawe (Tina), Darrell Dawe (Lisa) Angela Dawe, siblings-in-law Pat (Sandra), Carrie (Tom Power), Bernadette (Don Porter), Leo, Charlie (Savi), Chris (Lisa), Eugene (Tina), and Margie (Dennis Penney).
Special thank you to Dr. Krista Fudge, Maureen Bromley-Tucker, Sheri Sheppard and the staff at ICU, your care and kindness is appreciated more than you will ever know.
