Obituary of Theresa Elizabeth Wade
Please share a memory of Theresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Theresa Elizabeth Wade, on December 17, 2024.
She was born to Frances and Martin Kennedy in Conception Harbour, Conception Bay on January 9th, 1931 and moved to Corner Brook in 1958 to establish a new life and to raise her family. Though she chose to remain in Corner Brook for 66 years she always referred to the Harbour as 'down home'! She was fortunate to have lived a full, rich life. We are happy that we got to have her with us for as long as we did...she was, after all, just a few weeks shy of her 94th birthday.
Until her last breath she remained a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She leaves her surviving children with precious memories and a legacy of hard work and dogged determination... Edward, Debbie (Gary Murley), Geraldine (Larry Keating) and John (Heidi White) and then that devotion flowed freely to the rest of her family...her grandchildren: Matthew Murley (Stephanie Peddle); Elizabeth Murley (Brandon Goulding); Aaron and Adam Keating; Ava and Ireland Wade. Her two sisters: Joan Flaherty (Hillary) and Ann Kennedy as well as a number of beloved nieces and nephews, too many to name.
It warms our hearts to note that mom was surrounded by much love as she prepared her return home to God, through personal visits, many phone calls and video chats with family, friends and neighbours. We appreciated the care she received by staff at Western Memorial Hospital and CB LTC and by the frequent blessings bestowed upon her by Fr. Terry and Sr. Kay.
She was predeceased by three children: Margaret and babies Mary and Michael. Her parents, her brothers: Edward 'Ned' Kennedy (and his wife Pauline); John and Martin Kennedy and her sister Mary Woodford (and her husband Bill).
In keeping with her expressed wishes cremation has taken place. The family will welcome you at Fillatre's FuneraL Home, 4 St. Mark's Avenue on Wednesday, January 8th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.. The funeral mass will take place on Thursday, January 9th at 10:00 a.m. from All Hallow's Parish, 112 Humber Rd. with interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her beloved Margaret Rose.
Maybe because of her own experience with a 'special needs' child, she dearly loved being surrounded by Margaret and her friends. She was an avid supporter of the local and provincial Special Olympics organization and served in a number of volunteer positions over the years: Coach, Team Manager, Games Organizer and Fundraiser. Mom appreciated the opportunities the participation in sport afforded these individuals such as active living, travel and deep rooted connections with teammates.
With this in mind and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honour to:
