To Lorraine, Curtis and family, Paulette and family and all the extended families: It is with deep sadness Eldred and I send heartfelt condolence to you all. John was a very intelligent man with a gentle soul. Lorraine, I fondly remember the visits to your home and watched as you prepared the meal and entertained us so well. During that time John and Eldred talked about old guns, old boats and old men. The discussion was about Henley Harbour, Williams Harbour and Battle Harbour. They talked about the wars, the province, the country and the news. The talk moved into the years of their lives, the poverty in the old days and the present day situation, how things had changed and John added " some for the good and some not so good." It was amazing to just listen. I know John was a loving husband and father and he was also a wonderful grandfather. He wanted the best for you all. You have many memories of this great gentleman and that will ease some of your pain. There will be many days ahead when some word, some song, some book, and old net, a boat and many other things will remind you of him and sometimes you will cry for that which cannot be, other times you will smile. Today We send our love and want you to know you are in our thoughts and wish you much love and peace. To you John, Rest Easy my old friend.
