Aunt Beulah, as you closed your eyes for one last time you have closed the last chapter to Emma(Ford) and William Wells's story.
I cannot ever remember you not being in our family and you did play a big part in my life
Your visits were always greeted with excitement and I can still visualize you coming in through the garden with your cleaning bucket and cloth. You came for a holiday but you worked to clean our home from top to bottom, knowing mom was incapable of doing so. The excitement was equally present when, while walking home from school, I would unexpectedly see your car knowing you and Uncle Fore were there!
I remember the "Corner Brook" Christmas parcels from the mail, all wrapped in brown paper and loaded with Christmas stickers. To this day I do the same when I send parcels or cards to my Grandchildren.
I smile when I think that usually, everything you sent me was too big, and you knew that. The rationale being that "you can grow into it!" You actually didn't see me enough to know my size, so yes, you were a smart lady.
My visits to Corner Brook were quite enjoyable and you just couldn't wait to get me to Broadway to go shopping!! We would arrive at your house, have a lunch and then I would be whipped off shopping AND of course, another lunch, while out shopping You sure loved companionship and shopping!
One visit you decided to come back to Norris Arm with me. We started singing choruses and never stopped until we arrived in Norris Arm. If there was one you did not know, I would have to sing it over and over until you got it - then we would laugh at ourselves.
If I were to select a special memory, Aunt Beulah, it would have to be the time we attended a Corner Brook congress together. During the morning service, you asked me if I would walk to the altar with you. We both left the bleachers hand in hand and went forward to pray - what an honor - Aunt and Niece kneeling together to talk to God. I am sure you felt that special moment as well.
As you are laid to rest today, my heart is there. Sending much love to Carla, David, Jonathan and his family.
Love you always Aunt Beulah
Dorinda
