It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dad. Passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home. Predeceased by his parents, James and Eline (nee Brown) Learning; infant sister; brothers Gilbert and Selby. Lovingly remembered by his best friend and partner-in-crime, Roberta Frampton Benefiel; daughters Jennifer and Carren (Ed); son Matthew; grandchildren Matthew, Jenelle, Roman, Marino, Shane; great grandsons Gage, Grayson; brothers Bill, Richard (Betty), Lester (Trudy), Melvin (Judy) and John; sister Hazel; special nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends especially Bob (Kathy) Frampton, Frank Benefiel, Holly (Jayrl) Wells, Cheryl Bearchell, Keiland Stiglitz (Sean), Denise Cole (Jacinda).
Dad had a full life, a true man of Labrador, and a respected elder – a title he truly earned, and he did not take lightly. In the last years of his life he worked tirelessly to protect the land he so dearly loved, never asking of anyone what he wouldn’t do himself. Thank you to everyone who joined him on this journey. A special mention of gratitude to Drs. John, Woolam and O’Brien. Over the past few months, we have felt the love of so many wrap around us and carry us when we were too sad to walk the path. Thank you.
Following dad’s wishes a cremation will take place. There will be a celebration of his life when it is safe to gather. In lieu of flowers, donations in dad’s memory may be sent to Grand Riverkeepers Labrador, petebarrettconsulting@gmail.com.
