Darlene and Jim, so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a beautiful lady inside and out. I remember seeing her at the hospital on many occasions and I always relaxed knowing ‘nurse Lodge’ was going to take care of me. One of the best nurses I have ever known and I had so much respect for her. Rest In Peace nurse Lodge.

Nurse Lodge was a sweet lady and a good nurse. She was a pleasure to work with each day and was one of the last of a wonderful breed of Nurses/health care workers who devoted their lives to their profession and communities they served. God bless Daphne and give her family peace at this time.

Darlene & Jim, our deepest condolences in the loss of your mom. My mom and “Nurse Lodge” have always been good friends. They worked together at the Port Saunders Hospital for many years. She was also the one who pierced my ears when I was ten years old. Darlene, take comfort in knowing that many people have special memories of your mom. Take care.

I am saddened to hear of Daphne's (Nurse Lodge) passing. I had the distinct pleasure of working with Daphne from 1973-1983. She was a dedicated, competent and compassionate Registered Nurse who always supported her patients and their families with the utmost care and respect. Likewise, she supported and cared deeply for and about all of those wonderful women and men who made up the team providing care for the people of the catchment area served by the Port Saunders Nursing Health Centre. Daphne was the ultimate professional and a loyal friend. I remember well Daphne's kindness on my arrival in Port Saunders in my first posting to a Nursing Station. She became my mentor and friend over my 10 year tenure in Port Saunders and I have not and will not forget her generosity of spirit and kind nature. As with me, she care deeply and looked out for everyone on the team. Daphne was a devoted wife, mother, community member and friend. She would lovingly share stories with us about the love of her life, Jack and the apple of her eye, her daughter Darlene. I remember Daphne's beautiful smile and the twinkle in her eyes when she smiled and on display in the attached pics from our time at the Port Saunders Hospital. She was the ultimate professional, devoted wife and mother, proud citizen and loyal friend. By any measure on the humanity scale, Daphne excelled. Daphne's was a life well lived and is, without a doubt, resting now the in arms of God.

Sorry to hear about your mom. I didn’t know her well only that she seemed like a very caring and sincere person. She was very friendly and the first nurse I met at the hospital in Port Saunders. I never forgot her name from that meeting...you could tell she was good at her job and she cared. Take care and God Bless let your memories help you through this sad time.

Darlene, I am so sorry for your loss. Your mom was a mentor to so many nurses who have come after her. I learned so much from her. Her caring heart was evident in everything she did, caring for patients, their families and of course her coworkers. I speak of your mom so often at work. I always say none of us can ever live up to “the legend that was Nurse Lodge” she carried a respect that we don’t often see anymore. She was loved by us, she always cared for her coworkers as if we were her own. I hope you take some comfort in this difficult time knowing that so many of us are grieving her loss as well. So sorry to hear of your mom passing Darlene,my heartfelt sympathy to you Jim and all her family and friends, Your mom was one of the sweetest person I ever met and a great nurse. I have very fond memories of her to cherish. Fly high with the Angels Nurse Daphne.

My deepest sympathy to you and your family on the passing of your Mother. Daphne and I began our life journey in Millertown as very young children. Long before we started school we were best friends. She is the only friend I remember from those early years. I have many pictures and memories of her. We lost contact over the years but I am not surprised to read that she was "the best Nurse ever." I will forever remember her as my special friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
