Barb, your beautiful photo caught my eye instantly while viewing the site. You and I worked at 727 CFS St. John's, NL. We had fun times chatting and sharing stories of people we knew, ie, Bernie, Meredith, Darryl and others I am sure. It saddens me knowing that you suffered in the end of your successful life. Reading your journey of studies and life is a true compliment to you. It no doubt gave everyone satisfaction of enormous joy seeing your unending unselfessness to making our world a better place. I had the very great pleasure of working with Barb at Trillum in Kingston. She was bright, knowledgeable, funny and so very capable. The theory was that I was her manager, but truly all I ever did was point her in a direction and watch her go. She was so full of energy and life that it is so very hard to think of her being gone. She was a very proud Newfoundlander, and spoke often of her family. The only challenge I ever had was trying to understand her after she had been down home for a vacation and topped up her accent. My condolences to all who knew her and loved her.

I worked with Barb at the Canadian Hearing Society for many years. We became very close work colleagues and we had lots of laughs together.

Barb was very dedicated to helping her clients and cared about them greatly. she was a very kind and giving person.
CHS was very fortunate to have had Barb work for them, she was was a great team member and a great ambassador for the organization.
One great memory I have of Barb was at Christmas time when we ordered Swiss Chalet and we watched the movie It's a Wonderful Life.
We had many wonderful times working together and she chatted to me about her mom and her family many times. She was very close to her family and talked about them often.

Bill parsons and family so so sad to hear of Barbara passing our family’s were very close over the years. Mom and dad and us kids spent a lot of time at the Christopher home at woodbine ave in Curling. I Remember as a little girl the funny conversations between the family’s. I am very saddened by this news. I worked alongside Barb for 6 years, right up to her retirement. She served our country having had a career in the military, then served the communities in which she worked, as a social worker. Throughout her day-to-day endeavors, Barb was not only supportive, but she truly became a friend to countless many.
It was clear to me that Barb always put others first. Kind, compassionate, friendly and dedicated to helping others - that was Barb. I feel we have lost a hero.

I had the pleasure of working with Barb at CHS Belleville. She loved her family and Newfoundland. She certainly was passionate about helping seniors and was not afraid to be their voice when necessary and fighting for their needs against anyone or thing. I will try to put in words what knowing Barb meant to me. From her first email response, 11 years ago, when I inquired about Ottawa apartment rentals to the last txt I received last week, she was always encouraging me to realize my contributions not only to our clients but to everyone around me. We quickly became friends keeping each other on our toes - not knowing when the other would crack a joke or a prank! We shared our joys, sorrows, fears hopes and dreams! When she prepped me for her retirement last year, she made sure I knew she was only a call or txt away! She knew that was reciprocated for her too! She was definitely one of a kind woman! Strong, proud, compassionate, fair and an advocate for what she believed her clients needed and deserved! Most of all, her family was by far the most important thing in her life! There was not one day that she or I did not talk about them!
She is, was and will always be my role model!
Goodbye my friend! Rest in peace and don’t forget to “keep everyone, up there, on their toes by Stirring the preverbal shit!’ ;) ;)

Barb was the most amazing firecracker of a woman I’d ever met. Blunt, no nonsense, to the point and with the biggest heart I’d ever met. She treated her senior clients with such care and respect and always had her coworkers’ back. It is such a tragic loss for her family and anyone who had the good fortune to know her. I’m sorry to learn of the loss of Barb. I knew her as a strong team member of CHS. She cared deeply about her clients and served them well. She was soft hearted about their needs and advocated strongly for them. She was always very respectful and kind in her interaction with me. I’m so glad she was able to retire and hope she had the opportunity to enjoy her retirement as much as I’m enjoying mine, although it’s so unfortunate that it was not longer. I am in shock and saddened by this news. Barb was the first person I met my first day at the Canadian Hearing Society, greeting me with "who are you?". She was a great support to me as co-workers and afterwards. She was very passionate in helping seniors and was excellent at her job. Barb was a very strong person. As a fellow east coaster, we used to talk about "out east" and I'm glad she was home in the last year. My greatest condolences to her family.

Barb and I were early birds that like to be in the office early at CHS in Ottawa. She will interrupt my reading time by sitting in the chair next to me and say "whats going on?" As if we were buddies and not colleagues at work. We got a bit closer along with Doris during the 10 weeks strike since we were there earlier before anyone else. Barb was a tough woman but also somewhat low key private and sweet. Very intelligent and no nonsense which is what I will miss about her.

Barb was a neighbour of mine in Ottawa. We got to know each other better in the past two years.
My memories are mostly of her friendly smile, and her generosity. She was always ready to help others.
I liked Barb for her direct, no nonsense way of saying what she thought and how it was. She was respectful of others.
Though sad when she announced she was moving back home, I also felt it was the right decision for her.
She always spoke so lovingly of her family, it was obvious she missed home. She looked forward to enjoying
a quiet life with Lady and her family and friends. She will be missed by all.
