Jenny, Lib (Strong) Fitzpatrick and I were so saddened by the news of Dave's passing. Even though we both have been away from Corner Brook for over 50 years, our memories of Dave are so vivid. We now live in BC and its such a long journey across this big country of ours, that we don't get back too often. However, we try to make it back about every 5 years or so and it was on one of these visits that we had such a wonderful interaction with Dave. It was mid summer about 8 years ago, and as we walked down West Street as we always did, there was a summer carnival going on and as we looked around there were so many people but regretfully we didn't recognize to many folks nor did they recognize us. What do you expect after 50 + years? When we made it down to the United Church there seemed to be a lot of people in there, so we went in and there in the middle of all those folks was Dave. He immediately recognized us both and we sat down and had so many laughs as if it was yesterday. He was such a gentleman, funny and full of energy. He made our stay and we often reflect on how special that chance meeting was. We just loved him.
Our sincerest sympathy to both you and the family and he will be forever remembered by us as the the great wonderful person that he was.
